A leak from an upstairs bathroom left stains and cracked joints across a kitchen ceiling. We opened, dried, patched, stain-sealed and repainted the ceiling.
The kitchen is open to the living area, so the repair had to blend into a large, continuous ceiling with recessed lights. Water had followed a light-fixture line and a drywall seam, leaving several stained strips.
After confirming the source was repaired, we opened the damaged seams, dried the cavity, re-taped and patched the drywall and sealed all remaining stains with a stain-blocking primer. The kitchen and cabinets were covered in plastic throughout, and the ceiling was repainted wall to wall for a uniform finish.
The ceiling is clean and uniform again, and the family used the kitchen every evening during the repair.
